The HAWASS Association was founded by a group of young people from Mohammedia in 2009, convinced that culture is an essential lever for the development of society.
Integrating culture into development policies is the goal of the work carried out by Hawass. Development is cross-cutting and encompasses all sectors — just as culture affects the political, economic and social dimensions of the lives of individuals and groups. It can be a guarantor of freedom of expression, creativity, equality between individuals, and the rights of artists, deriving from the universality of human rights.

Social art and culture, with a community where no one is marginalized — for sustainable development, access to justice for all, and building effective, accountable and inclusive institutions (SDG 16, United Nations).
Art and culture that support freedom of expression and thought, ensuring everyone can access cultural services — libraries, museums, theatres, cinemas, open spaces — and intangible goods like languages, customs, beliefs and history.
Helping the citizens of Mohammedia, especially in working-class neighborhoods, reach the means of individual and collective creativity — cultural democracy — promoting diverse cultural expression and local participation.
Sharing artistic and cultural experiences through peer-education — giving the young men and women of Mohammedia a chance to train and create, based on the best experiences of people their own age.
